So, sometimes friends call me up and they have these great opportunities. Not kidding. I know A LOT of awesome people who do amazing things! Well, some time earlier in the year, my friend Anna had called me. I was just leaving Target and called her back while I was sitting in the parking lot. She started telling me about this opportunity that her girls were going to have. At the moment it was top secret, but she told me all the details (as I promised to keep it a secret). Her girls needed pictures that could be sent for the Disney Channel to use! DISNEY CHANNEL! Her daughters had been doing such awesome things collecting dimes for Dimes for Down Syndrome, a charity started by another young girl that grants wishes for children and adults with Down Syndrome. Of course I would do the photo shoot!
Time flew by after we had talked that night. Anna had messaged me on May 1st saying that Disney needed the photos pretty quickly, so we arranged to do them that day. We were all free and I didn’t want to put it off any longer. It may have also been my birthday….but I had to seize the opportunity!
We went to our favorite metropark and got some shots as requested. It was so rewarding just watching Summer’s face light up at the mention of Disney!
Summer, in true diva style, even let me get some beautiful photos of just her.
It was such a great photo shoot! We even snagged one of the family before calling it a day.
Disney did end up featuring one of my photos (VERY briefly) in their feature! You can still catch on Disney Channel from time to time during the short segment Make Your Mark between other Disney shows.
You can watch the inspiring video feature about Judy Adams (the girl behind Dimes for Down Syndrome) and her awesome mom here or at the link below.
In the video, my photo can be seen lower left corner 0:38…..don’t blink or you will miss it! ;]
In case you were wondering, the family also got to go to Disney World! In addition to that, Summer’s wish was granted and there was an amazing flash mob for her in New York City (it was even recorded)…..AND they went and saw The Lion King on Broadway. Seriously, this organization does all of these amazing things…..and still Judy’s mom found time to send me a heartfelt “Thank you.” Just incredible. :]
