I love adventure! It doesn’t have to be far & it doesn’t have to be new. I can visit a place I’ve been 30 times and still find something different.
This summer my husband & I decided to check out Muskegon, MI. We camped out at the Hoffmaster State Park which is situated right off Lake Michigan. We took the same tent that we’ve had for almost 10 years The tent is special to us because we bought it for our trip to Hocking Hills when we got engaged. The picture of the tent is actually edited to look like the original film photo from our first camping trip (film that I had lost for 7 years & took to Kohne Photo to get developed and they SAVED it for me….yeah, I cried).
We only stayed one night at the park, but we set out for adventure at the crack of dawn. Actually walking down to the lake, we were the only people awake. We also were the only people on the beach for some time. In its vastness it was so peaceful & gorgeous.
Here’s the song I couldn’t stop singing on the beach: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlOl9LOUQ0g
After taking some photos of ourselves on the beach, we headed back to eat breakfast (an epic camping breakfast that we took so many supplies to make…lol), packed up, & headed out on the rest of our adventure. We were headed to Chicago but stopped to see a bunch of lighthouses on the way.
Arriving in Chicago, we were greated by friends. We solely spent all of our time hanging out with them. Drinking cider, playing with their cat, catching up, laughing, & ordering in amazing barbeque. After spending the night, we grabbed breakfast the next morning & started the last leg of our adventure.
I had never been to those popular touristy parks that Chicago offers, so we made a couple stops. I finally got to see the “Married With Children fountain” & “The Bean.”
When we arrived home, we had to get into major parent mode as we prepared our oldest daughter for 1st Grade. This last photo is of her on her first day of 1st Grade. She picked out her own outfit (complete with combat boots). She kind of rocks.
